Joe Jonas gushes about ex Demi Lovato: 'She's family'

LOS ANGELES, July 26 (UPI) -- Joe Jonas says he and ex-girlfriend Demi Lovato are so close he considers her family.

The 26-year-old DNCE frontman gushed about the 23-year-old singer in an interview with E! News on Monday. Jonas and Lovato are longtime friends who dated for a few months in 2010.

"She's family. We've known Demi for so many years," he said of himself and brothers Kevin and Nick Jonas. "We've performed with her, toured with her. She's just incredible."

"It's not always the case [to stay friends]," the star added. "Sometimes you have to know when to fold the cards. I don't think of her as an ex. We're really good friends. We've gone through so much together and we're really close now."

Jonas and Lovato skyrocketed to fame after starring in Disney Channel's Camp Rock (2008) with Kevin and Nick Jonas. The siblings were performing at the time as the Jonas Brothers and have since pursued solo careers, along with Lovato.

"We've seen each other go through tough times, good times, in and out of relationships," Jonas recently told Billboard. "It's funny to think back on [us dating] now. It feels like we were children, although I guess we were."

"She is like a sister to both [Nick and me], and it's great to know we all have that support," he added. "She's [currently] the best version of herself I've ever known."

Lovato and Nick Jonas are presently touring together, while Jonas and DNCE are on the road with Selena Gomez. Lovato admitted she encouraged Nick to break up with his ex-girlfriend, Olivia Culpo, in the July 30 issue of Billboard.

Demi Lovato’s newest album, CONFIDENT, is out now on Hollywood Records/Island Records/Safehouse Records and features the #1 iTunes smash single “Cool For The Summer.” Lovato kicked-off the release of CONFIDENT with powerful and poignant performances on “Saturday Night Live,” which generated the #1 worldwide trending topic on Twitter and massive coverage by the media. Following the performance, the Village Voice declared, “Issue a warrant for Demi Lovato ‘cause girl murdered ‘Saturday Night Live,’” adding, “Lovato’s full-throttle vocal assault on the Studio 8H stage with (“Confident”) could service as a career standout for her.”
Demi will perform songs from the critically acclaimed new album on “Good Morning America” (Oct. 29) as well as “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” (Oct. 30). Critical praise for Lovato’s CONFIDENT has been equally stellar. Billboard Magazine asserted, “Demi Lovato has become one of pop’s leading motivational figures,” while People Magazine lauded, “It’s Lovato’s dynamite vocals and striking vulnerability on aching ballads and gospel anthems that make CONFIDENT such a triumph,” and USA Today avowed, “She inarguably has one of the strongest instruments in pop right now.”
Island Records Artist, Nick Jonas introduced himself as a fully formed solo artist on his hit self-titled debut, released in November 2014. The critically-acclaimed album includes double-platinum smash single and #1 U.S. radio hit, “Jealous” and his sultry second chart-climbing radio single, “Chains.” Jonas attributes his album’s darker overtones partially to the fact that while he was recording, he was also shooting the gritty television show ‘Kingdom’ — a mixed martial arts drama that premiered on DirecTV's Audience Network last fall and was recently picked up for two additional seasons. Jonas recently earned two more high-profile roles, a guest starring role in Fox's horror-comedy series, ‘Scream Queens’ and a lead in the James Franco produced film, ‘Goat’. Showing no signs of slowing down this year, the breakout solo powerhouse joined forces with west coast rapper-producer Sage the Gemini to release their summer collaboration, “Good Thing.” Jonas’ latest single, “Levels,” has already amassed over 12 million views on YouTube and is rapidly climbing the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also recently wrapped up his sold-out North American “LIVE IN CONCERT” tour and has been nominated for a 2015 American Music Award for Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock.

Demi Lovato Just Made Fun of Herself By Posting a 'Mug Shot'

Being a celebrity can be hard sometimes, you guys. They go from interview to interview, responding to the same old boring questions ALL. THE. TIME. Clearly the monotony of answering questions like "who inspires you?" and "what are you wearing?" and "WHO ARE YOU BANGING YOU MUST TELL US WE NEED TO KNOW OR WE'LL DIIIIIEEEEEE??!!!!" over and over again can get a celebrity into a sort of funk. A lot of times, that leads celebrities to be caught so off-guard by non-general questions that they just say the first thing that comes to mind. This is clearly what happened to singer Demi Lovato last week, when she was asked what her favorite dish was by a British interviewer. Obviously, the interviewer was asking about Demi's favorite meal, but poor Demi's mind took the literal approach to the question, and she answered with this f***ing gem of a soundbite:
It's the type of moment that makes your insides cringe with embarrassment, because it's sooooooo dumb. It's a real-life version that moment in Miss Congeniality when Sandra Bullock's best pageant-friend, Miss Rhode Island, was asked by William Shatner's character to describe her perfect date...
This movie still holds up.

Ah, it feels so good when life imitates art. But rather than post this video to her Instagram account immediately after answering this question (which would have been a genius move, just sayin'), Demi decided to make fun of herself by posting a picture of her holding up a number of mugs, labeling it a #mugshot HAHAHAHAHA, GET IT? BECAUSE OF ALL THE MUGS?! Nice one!

We all say stupid stuff at times, but us normal morons are just lucky that there's not a microphone and the internet following us at all times. And so, we send our props to Demi for having a bit of fun with the incident and for pulling off those fun sunglasses! You go, Demi — keep lovin' those mugs and singin' those pop hits that, while catchy, do sound a little creepy when you really listen to the lyrics! #MugLife

Dulce Delight: It's Party time! Last episode of the year with big news!

I love
to read this type of material Good and attractive information I take from
it..Thank you for posting such a good article.

"I was young and successful and I was looking up at the venue where I was about to play, where I would be able to live out my dreams, something I dreamed of for years, and yet I was crying in the bus," Lovato, now 22, recalled. "I was feeling empty and for some reason I was feeling hopeless, even though I had hope right in front of me."

She didn't know it at the time, but Lovato was deep in the throes of a depressive episode, a symptom of her as-yet-undiagnosed bipolar disorder.

Lovato eventually got help. Now, the former "X Factor" judge and top 10 recording artist is lending her star power to a campaign aimed at encouraging others who struggle with mental illness to speak out and seek help.

Mental illness affects one in five Americans, and the "Be Vocal" initiative is urging anyone who feels out of sorts to speak up to family, friends and health care professionals. That's especially important for anyone not already receiving treatment, experts say.

"About 44 million adults are affected, and yet so many of them are not able to access treatment or they have not begun the process of seeking it out," said Allen Doederlein, president of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, one of the five national mental health advocacy groups collaborating on the new initiative. "Understanding that these are serious, real conditions, but also conditions that people can and do achieve wellness within, is really what this is all about. We want to make sure people speak up and get help, and lead thriving lives because they've done so."

A matter of policy and treatment

The campaign also is asking patients and advocates to take political action, working with elected officials and community leaders to help remove the stigma associated with mental illness.

"We need to speak up about raising our expectations for what it is to experience a mental health condition in the United States," Doederlein said. "Complete and total wellness should not just be a matter of luck for some. It's a matter of policy and treatment for everybody."

Lovato debuted as a child actress in "Barney & Friends", and made her mark as a teenage singer in the lead role in the Disney Channel musical "Camp Rock". She has since released four albums and headlined several national tours.

Despite her success, Lovato struggled throughout her teens with drug and alcohol abuse, eventually landing in rehab in 2010. While in rehab, doctors diagnosed her with bipolar disorder, she said during a 2011 interview on ABC's "20/20".

The diagnosis made sense to Lovato. She knew that at times she could take on huge amounts of work and achieve at a manic pace, only to feel everything crash down around her during a depressive slough.

"Finally I can look back and say, there wasn't anything wrong with me, as a person," she said. "It was something that was happening inside my head, and now I've been able to live my life well."

Something amiss

By being open about bipolar disorder, Lovato has been able to build a happy and healthy life. She said her treatment team fully understands her symptoms and can respond effectively, and family and friends are there to give her the support she needs.

Now Lovato is urging others to do the same, particularly if they suspect something is amiss but can't quite put their finger on it.

"People are afraid to vocalise how they're feeling – one, because they're going to be shamed by society; or then two, because they feel like they don't necessarily know this is even happening, they just feel different," Lovato said. "When I was younger, I didn't know that anything was wrong or anything was happening. I just felt something off.

"It's not something that anybody should be ashamed of in the first place. It's a disease like any other disease," she continued. "And it's hard to ask for help, but when you ask for help it's actually showing strength, rather than weakness."

Doederlein applauds Lovato's efforts, saying she is providing a strong example for others by showing that having a mental illness does not have to hold you back.

"We don't associate her with illness. We don't associate her with stigma," he said. "We associate her with being amazing and awesome. The path, as daunting and scary as it can be, is really about achieving whatever your version of that success would be."

Demi Lovato Talks Bipolar Disorder and Addiction, Named Face of Mental Health Awareness Campaign

Demi Lovato says she's "in a great place" mentally after battling bipolar disorder and drug and alcohol addiction for years.

The 22-year-old "Heart Attack" singer made her comments on NBC's Today show on Thursday, the day she was named a celebrity spokesperson of the new Be Vocal: Speak Up for Mental Health campaign and two days after she announced she, Nick Jonas and their manager had formed a new record label, Safehouse Records. The singer, who has also battled eating disorders, has talked about her past personal struggles before.

"I've been very open about my story just because that the more honest and open I am, the more people that I'm gonna be able to reach," Lovato said on theToday show. "Mental illnesses, in general, are...not talked about as much as they should."

"I wish that more people could understand from a point where it's not a choice to have an addiction. And with bipolar disorder, it's a chemical imbalance and it's something that you have to figure out your own treatment with your own team and in order to do that, it takes time," she added. "And finally, I'm in a great place where I can say that recovery is possible."

In 2010, at age 18, she spent time in rehab to treat "emotional and physical issues." She revealed months later that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In 2012, she told Seventeen magazine, "I'm not going to lie. I was self-medicating. I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain."

Lovato celebrated three years of sobriety in March.

"On the days that are harder, there's this saying called 'Play the record forward,'" Lovato said on the Today show. "So like, if I ever want to pick up and drink or use, I have to imagine, I have to play it out and imagine, like, 'OK, well, what would happen if I did that?'"

In an Instagram post that followed her record label announcement, Lovato had shared a special, heartfelt tribute to her manager and now business partner, Phil McIntyre, who she said saved her life and helped her get sober when she was battling substance addiction. She had also credited boyfriend Wilmer Valderramafor supporting her throughout her recovery, saying she "wouldn't be alive" without him.

She has also thanked her fans for their support numerous times.

"My fans have really held me accountable," she said on the Today show. "And it's been really incredible to have them as inspirations to stay strong and stay sober as well."

"I feel amazing," she added. "It's definitely changed my life in every single way possible. Yes, I went through a lot of stuff when I was young, but I'm so glad that I did, so that I can, you know, live a longer, happier, healthy life sooner rather than later."

And she's already back in the studio, working on new music. The singer is expected to release a fifth studio album.

"I'm very, very excited. I'm gonna release new music soon and I wish I could say when but I can't yet," Lovato said. "I think it'll be next level. This is like the album where I'm really gonna be able to show people what I can do."

Pop star Ariana Grande has canceled her free Budweiser MLB All-Star game concert appearance just a day after a video of her licking a powdered doughnut and expressing her hate for America went viral.

Our news partners at WCPO 9 On Your Side report Demi Lovato will now headline the show Saturday at Paul Brown Stadium.

Major League Baseball announced Grande, 22, as the concert’s main act in early June. The Boca Raton, Fla., native gained popularity as a star on Nickelodeon.

Grande’s representative said Wednesday she canceled her performance because of an oral surgery. On Monday, the singer tweeted she was having three wisdom teeth pulled.

But Grande generated negative social media buzz Tuesday when celebrity gossip website, TMZ, released security video footage it obtained showing her licking a powdered doughnut in a California bakery shop and kissing her boyfriend and backup singer. Grande can also be heard saying “I hate Americans. I hate America.” The incident took place on July 4.

Vendors, online and at GABP, gave away hundreds of tickets to see Grande in a matter of seconds when they were made available at 9 a.m., June 18.
